In Math Olympics, students in grades 3-8 participate in timed tests in one of two categories – reasoning (word problems) or computation (quick calculations by hand). They must work quickly and accurately to complete the problems in the time allotted. This year, over 200 students from 8 schools participated in the event. Many of our students placed high in the event.

Power of the Pen

Cornerstone did very well at the Regional tournament on April 10th!  Our 7th grade team placed 3rd, and Nicole Kurlich received the 1st place trophy for 7th grade.  Nicole Kurlich and Michael Verdi will be advancing to the state tournament.  Both Nicole and Michael received superior certificates, a status achieved by only 7% of the contestants at the Hudson Regional Tournament.  Sarah Haley is an official alternate for the state tournament.  Natalie Coiro, Sarah Haley, Kristen Kurlich, Lydia Yurkovich, Sara Fedor, Amiee Spice, Bethany Toma, and Sheila Uter all received certificates of honor.  With combined teams of 7th and 8th grades, Cornerstone came in 5th of 35 teams.
